Kit Kat

A hole in the wall, but no Golden Spike. I enjoyed this restaurant. I walked in and looked around and was so impressed by its nonchalant, comfortable feel. When I sat down and the waitress asked what I wanted to drink and I answered, "I don't know, red wine, maybe, something top-shelf". She answers, "I know just what you want!" and she brings me a profoundly enjoyable glass of wine. As an appetizer I order the mussels in a lemon-wine sauce. I was so impressed by these mussels. They were so good that I even dipped the bread into the broth and ate it.

The main course was mahi-mahi in a lemon-caper sauce. This is one of my favorite sauces and at Kit Kat it was done so well. I normally never order Mahi-mahi because I don't like the name, the taste or the idea of eating it. But for a nice lemon-caper sauce I can make an exception. I was not disappointed.

The final was, as always, Creme brulee. The gave me the desert menu and I looked for creme brulee but couldn't find it. So I told the waitress that I didn't want any desert because the only desert I ever order is creme brulee. "That's our specialty" she responded with something like a squeal. So I said, bring it on!It was a delightful meal.

Lai Wan Heen (Toronto)

The restaurant was quiet. I walked in concerned that it would be overpriced and bad. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto. It was an expensive restaurant. And, I would have to say, decidedly overpriced. I ordered some shrimp with vegetables and some merlot. It was good, but it wasn't anything extraordinary. I originally ordered the shrimp with dragon tea leaves, because that sounded like an exotic, choice. But the waiter told me that was a bad choice and recommended the shrimp with vegetables. I've had better food, better atmosphere at much lower prices.

The Fish Heads

The swim meet was such a success. The girls swam beautifully. I remember looking at Sasha doing the butterfly. She looked so good. I wish I had a picture of her doing the butterfly. I have to remember that for next time.

And the very last race that Dasha was in was sooooo coool. She had the endurance. She could go. The race started out and there were two strong swimmers and the rest lagged behind. Dasha swam hard, but the other girl was just a little bit faster. The other girl also had a much better flip turn and pulled even further ahead. But she ran out of steam and Dasha didn't. Dasha just powered through, caught up and passed her to come in first.
And my other daughter:

Just Beautiful

While I was in Florida I was sitting at the bar talking to the caterers. I was really enjoying myself. It was interesting to see what kind of people came up to the bar and what kind of booze they were after. While I was sitting there, a very beautiful creature sat down beside me. I asked her if I could take her picture and she said OK. I don't know her name, I don't know who she is. But I know beauty when I see it.
